The story behind the stories

After spending close to 10 years in the christian world, I've noticed a slight disconnect. One that has left me feeling both separated, alone and confused. I've noticed things that sound nice or make us feel good seem to be all over, but few and far between are the stories of the hardships. Few are the testimonies of the nitty gritty valleys, doubts and questions. Few are the stories that aren't spoken for entertainment or profit, few that don't seem rehearsed, and few seem to be the full story. That's why I created this blog. The Authentic Faith Experience was designed to be true, vulnerable and open about my process. It says in the book of Revelations that we will overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of testimony. Let us not diminish any of the power He has freely and graciously bestowed upon us.

My personal story

After the tragic death of my 20 year old  sister in 2010 at the age of 13, I was in a low and dark place. I didn't have a foundation to stand on. I started going to non-denominational church and attending youth group. Growing up I've always had an interest in different cultures, languages, leading and helping people. When I was 16 I accepted Him into my heart, God began combining those things for His glory. In 2015, for my senior spring break, I went on my first missions trip to Boston and did street evangelism and church building. Through that trip my heart was set on fire for telling people about Jesus. From there, I went to Haiti in 2016, where I learned the value of sustainability, loving those in front of you, and the mighty power of God’s miraculous joy. In 2017, through God’s gracious provision the door opened for me to be a part of Youth With A Mission for 5.5 months in South America. He took me 5,000 miles away to give me a heart for my home. There, I received an interest in church planting, and my passion for community outreach grew. Since then, I have had many internships working directly under pastors and directors to grow ministries. This includes but is not limited to: a summer learning how to lead leaders that were a part of the Leadership Institute in Woodside Bible Church, coordinating a summers worth of outdoor Wednesday Night services which brought about 15+ spontaneous baptisms, leading youth in door to door evangelism in Pontiac, and helping organize and execute numerous summer outreach events for youth, and families.

I whole-hearted believe we as Christians are to bring about light and hope, and to demonstrate unity to a broken and divided world.

“The biggest thing in coming together in unity is healing everyone involved.”
